‘No resale value’: Liverpool have decided £17m midfielder is too old to sign now – journalist

It appears that Joao Palhinha will depart Fulham this summer.

Although Palhinha’s deal to join Bayern Munich fell through last year, the Portuguese midfielder is still among the best players not playing in the Champions League.

As you would guess, Tony Khan’s statement this week that the player would be moved this summer if the proper offer arrived has sparked a lot of conjecture regarding his potential destination.

Speaking about Palhinha’s choices on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Alex Crook claims that Liverpool and Chelsea have determined the £17 million player isn’t for them because they just think he is too old.

For Liverpool, Joao Palhinha is too old.

The reporter revealed his knowledge of the Fulham player.

It will be interesting to see if Fulham has to drop their asking price as a result of Chelsea and possibly Liverpool deciding he is too old and has no resale value. “The issue he has in this country is that his people have touted him to a lot of big clubs at the top of the Premier League foodchain,” Crook said.

Strange
It begs the question of what direction football is taking when a player who is 28 years old is deemed too old to join with a major league team.
Although there may not be much potential for improvement at this stage, Palhinha is still a fantastic midfield player who could enhance practically any Premier League squad.

Although he is 28 years old, you may still get five or six years of solid service out of him at this stage.

Palhinha is a fantastic player, therefore whomever ends up signing him will be winning because Liverpool and Chelsea may lose out on this deal while someone else wins.
