Adrian Peterson, a former running back for the Minnesota Vikings, is suing the Houston estate sale over memorabilia he claims is being sold fraudulently.

“An estate sale in Houston is where Adrian Peterson is selling his MVP, ROTY, OPOTY, and more trophies,” NFL reporter Dov Kleiman wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on February 21.

Peterson fiercely denied what he called a “false story” a few hours later.

“I would like to elucidate recent rumors and media reports,” stated Peterson. “I told an estate sale company to leave personal objects alone, but they included several of my trophies in a sale without my permission. I will be filing a lawsuit as I did not approve of any of my trophies being sold.

“I made a mistake by leaving this company unsupervised. We allowed them access to many of our storage lockers and provided them with clear instructions. They obviously disobeyed the law. I would want to emphasize that I have a stable financial situation and that I would never think about selling my hard-earned accolades.

If I were going to sell them, I could sell them to people I know. I wouldn’t just start selling my goods online. So consider that for a moment.

Included are trophies from leading the NFL’s Top 100 Players list in 2013 as well as Peterson’s 2012 NFL Honors AP Offensive Player of the Year and MVP awards.

In addition, there are other ESPY and community service awards.

In honor of his longevity, there’s even a trophy that seems to be from Peterson to himself. All sorts of standard auction souvenirs litter the remainder of the lot: autographed books, footballs, and jerseys
