The Lions might not want to spend more money on the luxury of having Jonah Jackson return in 2024.

32 players from the Detroit Lions’ 2023 roster are eligible to sign free agents contracts in 2024 (20 unrestricted, 6 restricted, and 6 exclusive rights). We are analyzing their expectations for the 2023 season, their performance, and ultimately their prospects of coming back to Detroit in 2024.

Jonah Jackson, the starting left guard, is the next player up.

Prior to transferring as a graduate student to Ohio State in 2019, Jackson attended Rutgers for four years after being selected by the previous administration in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

When healthy, Jackson is one of the best pulling guards in football and has been a constant for the Lions at left guard since moving to Detroit. Additionally, as of late

and the 27-year-old is probably entitled for a large payoff now that his rookie deal has expired.

Anticipations for the year 2023

The Lions have been extremely methodical in their roster construction since general manager Brad Holmes and coach Dan Campbell arrived in 2021, especially in the trenches.

Fortunately for them, one of the few things their predecessors excelled at was drafting offensive linemen. As a result, they had established offensive line veterans like center Frank Ragnow, left guard Jonah Jackson, and left tackle Taylor Decker.
