The Georgia football team qualified for the College Football Playoffs for the first time in three seasons last season despite only one loss. The CFP committee was forced to act after the Bulldogs lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship, eliminating them from the four-team playoff field by one spot. With the CFP now consisting of 12 teams, Kirby Smart and Georgia football will attempt to make a run at the postseason the following year. Based on pre-spring odds given by FanDuel Sportsbook, Las Vegas has a strong belief in their possibilities, with Carson Beck, the returning quarterback, having the best chance of winning the Heisman Trophy the following season.

Beck and Texas Longhorns gunslinger Quinn Ewers are still deadlocked for first place in the most recent odds to win the Heisman Trophy Award. The Heisman Trophy candidate, who threw for 3,479 yards and 22 touchdowns last season, declared his intention to return to Texas. Next autumn, the Longhorns will participate in the SEC.

Carson Beck: Chances of Finishing Joint First in the Heisman Trophy Race

In 2024, quarterback Carson Beck, who is in his fifth season with the program, will rejoin Georgia football. He played alongside two-time College Football Playoff champion Stetson Bennett from 2021 to 2023. Following the 2022 title, their veteran signal-caller departed, allowing Beck to assume the role. The six-foot-four, 215-pound gunslinger had the second-highest passing total in franchise history in his rookie season with 3,941 yards. In terms of pass completion percentage, he also finished fourth in the nation with 72.4%. As reported by 247Sports, Beck amassed 250 passing yards in 11 consecutive games, matching Bennett’s record-breaking 2022 campaign. Against six picks, he ended with 24 touchdowns.

Despite losing to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship, Beck had a strong performance, throwing for 243 yards without any interceptions or touchdowns. Of his passes, he made 72% of them. In the meanwhile, he completed 13 of 18 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns in the Orange Bowl victory over the Florida State Seminoles, all without a pick.
