Marco Silva explains why Chelsea loanee Armando Broja has not started for Fulham yet
Marco Silva feels assured about the loan This season, Armando Broja, a striker for Chelsea, will play for Fulham, but he says he has to earn a spot in the starting lineup.
Due to an injury to Raul Jimenez, the 22-year-old was able to transfer to Craven Cottage on deadline day in order to obtain more regular football. He was given a berth in the front line.
However, Rodrigo Muniz has been favored up top thus far, and he showed his manager’s faith by scoring twice when the Cottagers defeated Bournemouth over the weekend.
Since moving on loan, Broja has only played as a substitute twice for a total of 32 minutes, and he hasn’t even tried to score for his new team.
Silva says he has already spoken to the forward about the situation, but he is not in a rush to choose the Albanian, even if Fulham would have to pay £4 million if Broja is not selected. When asked if Broja should anticipate competition to make the team, the Fulham manager answered, “He knows that.” I spoke with him yesterday regarding the current state of affairs in the Premier League.
We have great faith in him; he has a lot of promise. We also looked at him as a player the previous summer.
The terms of Fulham’s contract with Chelsea are referred to as “pay as you don’t play,” and the Cottagers will be responsible for paying the entire £4 million if Broja doesn’t start more than 60% of the team’s games.
He already needs to be chosen for the starting lineup in nine of Fulham’s remaining 14 Premier League games after being benched for the first two.
With 13 Premier League appearances in the first half of the season for the Blues, Broja may have seen more action if he had stayed at Chelsea, who fielded a lineup without a recognized striker against Aston Villa last week.
