Justin Jefferson took offense to a sign released by the official NFL X account during the Lions’ game versus the Buccaneers. At first sight, the sign appeared innocuous: it was a throwback to Dan Campbell’s iconic “biting kneecaps” statement from his rookie year. If you look closer at the sign, you’ll see why Vikings and Rams supporters are upset with it.

The Detroit Lions are this year’s feel-good narrative multiplied by nearly ten. Detroit, historically renowned as one of the NFL’s most wretched franchises, is on the verge of a postseason berth unlike any other in franchise history. Most fans outside of the city are positive about the squad. However, several opponent players, notably Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, took exception to a seemingly simple placard.

We may never know if this placard was an unintentional reference or a fan gloating about the injuries. Regardless, Vikings supporters must be furious that a terrible injury is being praised. The injury could cost Hockenson a significant portion of the 2024 season.

The Vikings had a heck of a season, which is not good. They started out rather flat, but after a few weeks, they began to find their groove. Then Kirk Cousins suffered an injury, and all was not well in Minnesota. A couple strong performances by Josh Dobbs gave fans optimism, but when the Passtronaut crashed back to Earth, their postseason aspirations were quickly dashed. With Cousins likely returning to the team next season, expect Minnesota to want to exact revenge on their new NFC North foes.
