Arsenal star Paul Merson revealed which Liverpool player he’d pick in his team ‘every day of the week’, despite things not always going as planned for him.

Paul Merson stated that if he could have any Liverpool player, he would choose Darwin Nunez ‘any day of the week.’

Merson heaped admiration on Liverpool’s unconventional striker ahead of the Reds’ top-of-the-table game against Arsenal on Sunday. Jurgen Klopp’s side went to the Emirates five points ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City.

Despite the Uruguayan’s five goal involvements in his last four Premier League games, Klopp chose to put him on the bench, which would have surprised Merson considering the former Gunner’s pre-match comments.

Merson told Sky Sports: “Anytime, and I say that because he doesn’t hide. He never hides. The best praise I can give him is that people pass up opportunities and never put themselves in the box. The balls travel down the wing and are on the edge of the box, waiting for a pull-back.

Even after hitting the post three times and missing a penalty, he’s still going in for that header. He’s the one who’s desperate to get in there.

For me, he is on my team every day of the week since he is such a handful. He is eager to run without the ball, makes runs, and is a team player. I hope it clicks for him.

Mac Allister wants time on the ball; he doesn’t want someone tight on him. Give him time on the ball, and when Trent Alexander-Arnold comes in, they’ll spray it all over the pitch; so he’s a massive piece for them.”
