The Holy Blues return to action after an unscheduled mid-winter hiatus caused by postponements and Marske’s resignation from the Northern Premier League, Premier Division. Significantly, Trinity was happy to announce that the club now has a new chairman. Andrew Wood is our new chairman, having purchased a big portion in the club and partnering Dave Horsley and John Myskiw as vital shareholders.

FC United of Manchester is a ‘wounded animal’ after losing their last two games 3-0, and the Holy Blues will try to add salt to injury with this match. We are one point behind our opponents with a game in hand, and this could be the perfect opportunity to capitalize. Our opponents have conceded the most goals of any team outside the bottom three, totaling 53 in the league so far. Their defensive record reveals obvious weaknesses in their backline, which our players will aim to exploit. Often regarded as prime Kevin Keegan – Newcastle United – goal scoring has been the Red Rebels’ Achilles heel this season.

FCUM has nineteen points from twelve games, having won half of their home games, drawn once, and lost five. That record. Scoring 18 but surrendering 20 may have our hosts as minor favourites, especially given our recent better away record, which has seen us pick up 7 points from the last six games. A stalemate against high-flying Hyde and victories against Workington and Guiseley prove Russ Wilcox’s team are on the right track! Another good performance in Manchester on Saturday, and we can all relax before our journey to Derbyshire on Tuesday night!

It hasn’t been the best ten days for FC United; on Friday, the Rebels were penalized a point for fielding an incorrectly re-registered player after he had signed a contract. This offense occurred in November, but only took effect a few months later, bringing the two sides closer together in the rankings.

Before the game, manager Russ Wilcox maintained, “We are all looking forward to the game on Saturday.” Three weeks without a game should have recharged our batteries and prepared us for the battle ahead.

Three away games in a week will be difficult, but the team is eager to get rolling again.” “Please come to Manchester this weekend if you can. The man in charge issued a rallying cry: “Your support is invaluable.”
