Darwin Nunez trains after foot injury – and Alexis Mac Allister fears eased

Darwin Nunez trained despite concerns about a foot issue, hours after Jurgen Klopp revealed he was doubtful whether he would be available against Arsenal.

In his pre-match press conference on Friday morning, Klopp disclosed that Nunez departed Anfield in a protective boot in midweek and that he didn’t know “if Darwin is available or not.”

That raised fears about the No. 9 missing the trip to the Emirates, since Cody Gakpo was originally set to start up front if he missed out.

But suspicions were alleviated later in the day when footage of Nunez arriving for training surfaced on social media, and it can now be confirmed that he attended Friday’s session.

Nunez was one of 25 players spotted training at the AXA Training Centre, which also included Alexis MacAllister, who suffered a knee injury against Chelsea.

Thiago returned to full training, and Kostas Tsimikas appears to have been cleared for contact work after suffering a collarbone injury.

There were fewer youth players featured as Klopp’s injury situation improved, with just Joel Matip, Mohamed Salah, Stefan Bajcetic, and Ben Doak now sidelined, as well as Wataru Endo at the Asian Cup.

Only Jarell Quansah, Conor Bradley, Kaide Gordon, Bobby Clark, James McConnell, and goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek remained.

Crucially, there appear to be no other new injuries in the team, leaving Klopp with a sizable contingent to go to North London.
