There were a lot of players who were receiving praise after the team’s victory over Chelsea last night. However, Alexis Mac Allister was one of those players who most likely deserved the recognition and received less of it. That’s the life of a holding midfielder: their presence or absence is frequently noticed when they are performing well and giving the team stability, but their efforts are often overlooked when they are making a positive impact.

Despite the fact that Mac Allister broke a record that no other Liverpool player had broken in the previous three seasons, no one was talking about it. The media has been focusing primarily on two players, Darwin Nunez and Conor Bradley, who both deserve praise for their individual performances. Bradley was particularly impressive, and it’s amazing to see him pick up two assists and score a goal in such a significant game.

Chelsea vs. Alexis Mac Allister

For Liverpool, the Argentine was just incredible. He won the most duels (11) and made the most tackles (7) on the field. The comparison to Moises Caicedo, who was unable to win a single tackle during the game, makes Mac Allister’s performance all the more remarkable.

Furthermore, Mac Allister’s performance is even more impressive when compared to Liverpool players from the previous three seasons.

Squawka claims that over the previous three seasons, Mac Allister made the most tackles of any Liverpool player in the Premier League. In the match against Bournemouth earlier this year, Mac Allister was the only Liverpool player to record more tackles.

This statistic is not shocking. The midfield for Liverpool hasn’t been very strong in recent years. In the meanwhile, Mac Allister is unmatched.
