When asked if Alabama will win a national championship under Kalen DeBoer in his first three years, Michael Penix Jr., a former quarterback for Washington, didn’t think twice.

During his Monday interview on “The Opening Kickoff” on WNSP-FM 105.5 in Mobile, Penix told me, “I believe so.”

Penix and the NFL’s future stars have been in Mobile all week for the Reese’s Senior Bowl, which takes place on Saturday following a week of practices and team assessments.

Even though the quarterback acknowledged that he dislikes self-promotion, he was more than ready to share with Crimson Tide supporters the reasons for their excitement regarding the man taking Nick Saban’s place as the head football coach in Tuscaloosa.

He’s a fantastic coach, Penix remarked. He’s going to give the men a really hard push. On game day, he will ensure that every player is ready, particularly those on the offensive end of the court.

“Man, it’s going to get lit up

Penix passed for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns with just four interceptions, leading the Huskies to a 14-1 record and the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in 2023. In the Heisman Trophy voting, he came in second place to LSU’s Jayden Daniels.

He went on, “The offense he installs is amazing.” “A lot of field-pushing the ball.” Of course, using it wisely. The play’s timing is ideal.

It’s not that unlikely that DeBoer will win a championship in three years as predicted. At Washington, DeBoer had the Huskies vying for a national championship in Year 2. DeBoer had a 67-3 record at Sioux Falls from 2005 to 2009, winning three NAIA national titles in 2006, 2008, and 2009 in addition to being second in 2007.

Penix clarified, “That’s not all fans of Tide should be excited about.”

Austin Mack, a rookie quarterback from Washington, committed to Alabama earlier this month. In order to play for the Huskies last season, he reclassified from the recruitment class of 2024. He will be eligible to play for the Crimson Tide for four seasons after choosing not to play in 2023 to maintain his redshirt.

Regarding Mack’s reclassification, Penix stated, “He wanted to be able to spend a year in the offense, seeing me and how I operated in the offense.” “I tried to show him as much of the offense as I could, and I’ll keep supporting and boosting his self-esteem. His self-assurance is astounding.

He’s going to play at Alabama like a pro. In Alabama, that will undoubtedly become well-known very soon. He’s incredibly talented for his age, man. I noticed it as soon as he entered.
