It’s difficult to imagine the Detroit Lions’ 2023 draft class being any better. Two offensive playmakers, Jahmyr Gibbs and Sam LaPorta, who combined for almost 2,000 yards from scrimmage as rookies, were acquired by general manager Brad Holmes. In addition, Holmes picked Jack Campbell and Brian Branch, two defenders who combined for 12 tackles for loss and 3 interceptions.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, a wide receiver with the Lions, disagrees that Holmes’ draft class as Detroit general manager was the best one.

On January 25, St. Brown informed reporters, “I’ve got to go with our draft class.” “I may be a little prejudiced, but Derrick Barnes, Alim McCNeill, and Penei Sewell picked the winning play in the last game.

“It’s true that there are guys in our class, but there are also guys in the other classes. I will, however, be biased and claim that mine [is the best].

But really, over the past three years, he’s assembled a fantastic squad. It’s evidence of his diligence and the efforts of everyone above. However, I must go with my class without a doubt.

Holmes’ first class in Detroit was 2021, the one to which St. Brown was alluding. Seven members of the team that were chosen for that class remain with the company.

The six players St. Brown listed out of those seven selections will suit up for the NFC championship game against the 49ers in San Francisco.
