Julian Sayin, a transfer from Alabama and a former quarterback for Carlsbad, California, has committed to Ohio State. Sayin enrolled early and signed with the Tide during the early stage. He was allowed to train with the squad in the lead-up to the Rose Bowl Game and participate in bowl preparation.

A few days after Nick Saban’s retirement earlier in the month, former Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer was hired. After meeting with the new Husky staff, Sayin considered staying for spring ball but ultimately made the decision to use the transfer portal.

Thadd MacNeal, the head coach of Carlsbad, stated, “He signed to play for Nick Saban.” He got along well with Tommy Rees and coach Saban. He was in a connection with those individuals, and those were his boys.

“He didn’t know the new staff members at all, but it wasn’t anything against them when they came in.” Although he had some acquaintance with (offensive coordinator Ryan) Grubb and had received an offer from Washington, Julian believed it was best for him to move on because there was no relationship between the two of them.

When Sayin committed to Alabama, Ohio State was at the top of his list.

According to MacNeal, “they were actually No. 2 for him.” They really came in second, and as far as I’m aware, he went at least twice. He adored the offense, Ryan Day, and how quarterback-friendly he is.

The development of quarterbacks at Ohio State has been excellent, and Julian has a lot of respect for Brian Hartline, the co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach. He was active in Julian’s recruitment, and Ohio State has a fantastic wide receiver room, which is clearly very important to quarterbacks.

Sayin is acquainted with Bill O’Brien, the new offensive coordinator for the Buckeyes.

According to MacNeal, “O’Brien actually offered Julian when he was at Bama.” Before moving on, he developed a positive friendship with him and showed love for him.

Julian is eager to learn from him because he is someone Julian knows and has encountered on our campus. From a football perspective, Julian got along incredibly well with him and he has experience in the NFL.

For Sayin, the winning tradition of the Buckeyes was also a factor.

According to MacNeal, “He wants to compete for a national championship.” “Ohio State is undoubtedly one of the few universities that was constructed in that manner. They have an excellent winning history and, for the foreseeable future, a strong probability of qualifying for the College Football Playoffs each year.

They’re bringing in a fantastic class, and Julian is well acquainted with several of the guys, particularly the exceptionally gifted Jeremiah Smith. He’s ecstatic because this is a fantastic opportunity for him.

Sayin has already arrived on campus and is prepared to play when spring ball season begins.

MacNeal stated, “He’s there now and moving in.” They should be starting classes in a few weeks, I think. Julian’s current goals are to settle in, study the playbook, and be prepared.

Although Julian isn’t scared to compete with anyone, there were no guarantees regarding playing time right away. He is aware that they have a capable quarterback in place, but his objective is to arrive and be prepared to play, and I firmly believe he is.
