When the Tampa Bay Bucs play the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon at Ford Field, quarterback Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is anticipating yet another boisterous crowd.

In a media appearance on Wednesday, Mayfield stated that he had spoken with a few Los Angeles Rams players, who had mentioned how boisterous Ford Field was.

Some of those Rams players I spoke with claimed that was the loudest sound they had ever heard, Mayfield remarked. “We have to be completely ready for that.”

The Lions won their first postseason game in almost thirty-two years last Sunday against the Rams, and the crowd at Ford Field broke all previous records for volume.

According to an MLive article, the stadium’s decibel level reached 133.6, which is comparable to the sound of a 747 jet engine taking flight. The preceding best was 127.6.

The Rams lost two important timeouts in the second half as a result of the loud noise. When the Lions eventually ran out of time in the game, those timeouts could have been used.
