There are always expectations, concerns, and queries around any quarterback on the Detroit Lions roster. However, in a single evening, Jared Goff established his legacy in Detroit and secured a victory that will resound for Lions supporters. After being cut by the Los Angeles Rams and written off as broken, Goff achieved something that no quarterback for the Lions had done since Erik Kramer: a playoff victory.

After the Lions defeated his former squad, his position with the team is essentially unquestioned. However, that is only the beginning of the tale and the way the Lions pulled off their historic night. In the most recent episode of the Pride of Detroit PODcast, we analyze everything and look ahead to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“Like Chris mentioned, there are an increasing number of videos showing people crying in the stands or at home. I watched one today in which fans were yelling at Jared Goff’s car, ‘You’re our QB, you’re our QB, you’re our QB!’ And that was one of the most amazing things I saw on Sunday: the Lions fan base supporting Jared Goff wholeheartedly, something I’ve never seen happen with any quarterback, not even Matthew Stafford. Has anyone ever chanted “Ma-tthew Ma-tthew” at Stafford? It’s unclear to me if he ever did.

While there’s no denying that we’re rooting for Jared Goff because we don’t support Matthew Stafford, it was also Jared Goff’s night. In addition to capturing the moment and leaving a lasting memory, he also made a significant statement about his future in the NFL, with the franchise, and among NFL quarterbacks. Take a look around the league at this point and ask yourself how many quarterbacks fell flat during the playoffs. Dak performed once more!
