Mason Short, a 2025 recruit for the Alabama Crimson Tide, visited Athens, Georgia, this past weekend on official visits. Short has since decommitted.

Last weekend, one of the Alabama Crimson Tide’s 2025 pledges made an official visit to The Classic City, Georgia.

They are currently trying to sign Mason Short after signing Jake Pope and Travaris Robinson from the Crimson Tide. The January 13th visit to Georgia by the commit from Alabama is no longer being followed.

Short is a four-star prospect out of Evans High School in Evans, Georgia, who is in the 2025 class. Although his 247Sports profile lists him as an interior offensive line recruit, the 6’6″, 305-pound player plays offensive tackle for Evans. Given that he spent time with Tate Ratledge during his visit, Georgia might be wooing him in this manner.

Short is the eighth-best interior offensive line prospect from the 2025 class and the 22nd-rated player from Georgia, per the 247Sports composite rankings. He had committed to Alabama in April 2023.

Given that Georgia lost Jabree Wallace-Coleman and Micah DeBose a few months ago, Short might join a class of 2025 that has seven pledges overall and is ranked seventh among recruits from 2025.

Following Nick Saban’s departure, Alabama has experienced the transfer portal, the loss of Pope and Isaiah Bond, and perhaps even the arrival of Caleb Downs. They have also experienced the taste of what it’s like to recruit in this era of college football, having lost both Ryan Williams and Short as commitments.

Georgia Recruiting Class of 2025

Williams, Elyiss TE
Jason Perlotte, LB; Justus Terry, DL.
