This week, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins teased that his wife is hoping he will be able to return from injury in time for the Super Bowl if the Vikings make a deep playoff run.

When asked about Cousins’ health and the likelihood of his return this season, head coach Kevin O’Connell didn’t rule out the veteran quarterback, citing how Cousins has addressed his rehab since suffering an Achilles tear on October 29.

“I’m not sure if he also updated the fact that he feels ahead of schedule.” “Every time I talk to him, he seems to be very encouraged,” O’Connell stated at a news conference on December 21. “I have no idea what that would look like along that timeline, but hearing his rehab schedule here and the extra work he’s putting in… this guy is committed to his craft as a quarterback, but you’re seeing that same kind of process and dedication to it through his rehab.”

Aaron Rodgers’ activation from the New York Jets’ injured reserve has given the Cousins family some hope.
On ESPN’s “The Adam Schefter Podcast” on December 19, Cousins revealed that his wife, Julie, had a fantasy that Cousins would be able to play in the Super Bowl.

“My wife’s holding out hope that somehow, if Aaron can get back fast and then you add eight weeks — I’d be right there at the Super Bowl,” Cousins was quoted as saying. “No one knows. We’ll see what happens. This league is insane.”

However, Cousins addressed his long-term health and how it may effect his future in the league as free agency approaches next year.
“Will I ever play football again?” Cousins explained. “You know, I’m an older guy who is a free agent; is there a market for me?” I had no idea. I think I will, and I think it will be there, but you never know.”
