NFL postseason possibilities: Every method the Detroit Lions can get a postseason berth in Week 16
With a victory versus the Minnesota Vikings in addition to two other options, the Detroit Lions can secure their first postseason trip since 2017.
The Detroit Lions are headed for the postseason as we approach Week 16, and there are three ways they might make the playoffs for the first time since 2014:

Scenario 1: On Sunday, the Lions defeated the Vikings.

Scenario2: On Thursday, the Rams either lose or tie the Saints

Scenario 3: On Sunday, the Seahawks either lose or tie the Titans.

The Lions will not only guarantee a postseason berth if they quietly go about their business and defeat the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, but they will also win the NFC North and, for the first time in club history, host a playoff game at Ford Field. Actually, the Lions haven’t won their division in thirty years, back when it was known as the Norris division. This weekend is an opportunity to create history.

In addition, five clubs currently have a 7-7 record, which theoretically means they may tie the Lions record. However, the Lions hold the tiebreaker over the Falcons and Saints, and they are unable to catch Detroit because of their previous victories against them.

But the Lions still have to worry about the Rams for the time being because they lost to the Seahawks in Week 2 and might have a tiebreaker problem with them.

That being said, regardless of the outcome of the Lions game on Sunday, the Lions will secure a spot if the Rams or Seahawks draw or lose in Week 16. This implies that the Lions might secure a postseason spot on Thursday and go on to win the division on Sunday.

Here’s a reminder of what the current NFC playoff picture looks like through 15 weeks of the 2023 season.
