When the Chicago Bears travel, the weather becomes a major theme for the Detroit Lions game. The outlook for this week is pretty mild—just a 7% chance of precipitation and 10-15 MPH winds—but with temperatures projected to be in the 30s, it will be Detroit’s first cold-weather game this year.

Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is overjoyed at the news. Despite playing college football in the SEC, where cold games are practically never played, growing up in St. Louis, cold football was the norm.

“I’ve been playing in the snow, ice, and everything since I was eight years old, seven years old,” she remarked. “Not much has changed. That’s one of my favorite games. I enjoy playing in big games because you can truly see who wants it.”

While Williams, the Lions’ first-round pick in 2022, hasn’t yet been deployed as a main weapon in the offense, the team is incorporating him more into the weekly game plan. He’s played at least half of the snaps in four straight games and has at least two touches in five of them.

Williams produced one of the most explosive plays of the game last week against the Saints, taking a reversal for a 19-yard touchdown run. According to NextGenStats, Williams reached 20.7 mph on the play, and he’s reached at least 20 mph on four of his 16 career touches.

You don’t know Jameson Williams if you believe the cold weather will slow him down this week at Soldier Field.

“Nah. Nah. Nothing can slow me down.”
